About Baer’s Paving

Baer’s Paving is a family-owned and operated commercial paving company built on grit, hustle, and over three decades of experience. Based out of Cincinnati, OH, we specialize in full-scope asphalt solutions—from prep and gravel to blacktop installation, seal coating, patching, and line striping.

The story started in 1987 under the name Bernecker Blacktopping. When founder Bob Bernecker passed the reins to his son Mark, it kept rolling. Then in 2015, Tommy Baer—Bob’s great-nephew and longtime hand on the crew—saw his moment and took the wheel.

Tommy spent years learning the ropes on blacktop crews before leaving the trade to work on aircraft for Procter & Gamble. But when he heard Mark was ready to step away, he came back with a vengeance. At first, it was just Tommy and one other guy, working sunup to sundown—hauling asphalt, running the paver, quoting jobs at night, and grinding every single day to build something better.

Today, Baer’s Paving has a tight-knit crew of 10–15, full-time drivers, operators, and family members all pulling in the same direction. We run our own trucks, equipment, and pavers, and we’re proud to handle everything in-house—no shortcuts, no subcontracting out the dirty work.

We don’t cut corners, and we don’t play games. We treat every project with the same level of intensity and integrity, whether it’s a 500-ton lot or a 4,200-ton commercial site like our recent job up in Beavercreek. Our clients know us for quality work, straight talk, and showing up when we say we will. That’s how we’ve built long-term relationships with some of the top general contractors in the region—and how we plan to keep growing.
